Welcome to Franklin Communications

A cry for help from a frustrated Director of Human Resources at a local hospital became the impetus for the birth of Franklin Communications: “Our managers and supervisors can’t write clear sentences, proposals or emails. Can someone from your department train our management team?” This plea was addressed to the head of the English Department of the University of Pittsburgh where I was an English professor teaching a course I designed for organizations called “Written Professional Communication.” Because of this course and my interactive style of teaching, the head of the Department recommended me.

The rest is history, as the saying goes. I established Franklin Communications and shifted gears from professor to trainer, writer, coach, and consultant, though I maintained my affiliation with the University as an adjunct professor, teaching a night course to older working students who returned to the university for a degree and an Executive Writing course to MBA students at the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh.
